The Pierce County Sheriff's Office is investigating a hit-and-run crash caused by a semi-truck driver who was seen hitting a fire hydrant.
The driver of the semi-truck immediately fled after hitting a fire hydrant and causing major water damage.
Officials with the city of Puyallup said the crash caused two water mains in the area to break, which caused flooding and water damage to several nearby homes and businesses. City officials said about 18 water customers in the area were affected, but they were able to restore water to the area by the end of the day Monday. At least one resident in the area told KOMO News their basement flooded, and they still did not have hot water as of Tuesday afternoon.
The southbound lane of Milwaukee Avenue at that intersection is temporarily closed as crews work on the repair.
