The Washington State Ferries system is shuffling several boats and fixing one on the fly to accommodate the summer rush.
Two boats on the San Juan Islands route are out of service, the Samish and the Yakima, with mechanical issues.
The Puyallup has an issue with its floor so instead of taking the boat out of service to fix it. WSF is working to repair it in quadrants cordoning off one section at a time. Warr said that the damage occurred while the Puyallup was in dry dock last winter for crews to replace corroded steel on one of its decks.
