The incident happened around 8:00 p.m., Tuesday, in the 7400 block of San Pedro Avenue. According to the police, the two suspects, a man and a woman, shoplifted from Macy's and were confronted by a security guard. Police tell us the male shoplifter shot the security guard in the leg during the confrontation.
The security guard hid inside a storage room after the shooting. Emergency Medical Services had to go inside to get the officer out. Macy's was evacuated as a precaution since the suspects may have reentered the mall. Authorities did not find the two suspects inside of the Macy's. Police believe the suspects may have fled.
The San Antonio Police Department's Raven and Eagle Units were both on the scene assisting in the search for the suspect.
