Security expert offers tips to stay safe if you are heading into large crowds with ABC 6 following shooting incident at Trump rally over the weekend. One man was killed and two people were injured at the weekend campaign rally.
"When we hear those gunshots or we perceive a threat to our life, we need to get up and get moving," Dustin Randall, chief operating officer with Safe Passage Consulting told ABC 6. Randall said if shots are fired in a public place, move quickly and hide behind anything that can stop a bullet. "I would want to move as fast as I possibly could," Randall said. "It certainly couldn't hurt to stop, assess the situation, and keep moving."We met with the security expert at Schiller Park, where, in 2012, President Obama had a re-election campaign rally, that thousands attended.Randall was with the Franklin County Sheriff's Office and patrolled the crowds in plain clothes during the Obama rally in 2012.
"All the roads shut down for traffic" Randall said. "The flow of the people coming in was controlled.""There's technology that exists, that detects weapons," Randall said. "On Saturday, it would've seen a person getting on top of a building with a rifle and immediately notify law enforcement."ABC 6 is on your side with simple things you can do to stay safe if you are heading into large crowds.
