As Seattle prepares for the FIFA World Cup, the local organizing committee and its partners have unveiled their plans for the ultimate fan experience.
As Seattle prepares for the arrival of the FIFA World Cup this summer, the local organizing committee and its partners have unveiled plans for the ultimate fan experience in the host city of the biggest international soccer tournament.
On Monday, the Seattle FIFA World Cup 2026 Local Organizing Committee , alongside its partners with the City of Seattle, Seattle Center, Friends of Waterfront Park, Seattle Sounders FC, Seattle Reign FC, RAVE Foundation, Seattle Mariners and BH Properties, announced four venues in an expanded approach to fan celebrations for the World Cup.Starting June 11, FIFA fans will be able to experience World Cup thrills at multiple locations along Unity Loop, including Seattle Center, Waterfront Park, Pacific Place and Victory Hall in SODO. According to the committee, all these fan experiences in a new distributed model will be free and open to the public. "In just 100 days, Seattle will be buzzing as fans from all over flood our city for an unforgettable summer," said SeattleFWC26 CEO Peter Tomozawa. "Our amazing partners have created a network of free celebrations that meet people where they live, work and gather. This approach reflects who we are: innovative, inclusive and community driven. We're not just hosting a tournament - we're bringing the game to everyone."I'm so excited to be welcoming people from around the world to an incredible FIFA World Cup this year," said Wilson, "and I can't wait to make the whole city part of the celebration.Seattle Center, Seattle Kraken and Climate Pledge Arena will provide a free, large, family-friendly and vibrant place at the heart of the city with the "Let's Play SEA '26 - World Soccer Fan Celebration," where the Armory will serve as the primary hub, featuring a large-format indoor screen and a comfortable, all-weather gathering space with food, seating and amenities. Additional free fan experiences will take place across the Seattle Center campus, including the Mural Amphitheatre with views of the Space Needle and Pacific Science Center arches. The International Foundation will also feature Seattle-based and international DJs and artists performing great music, as well as other cultural programming, public art, Festal activations, food vendors, kid-friendly play areas and immersive fan experiences that will animate the campus throughout the tournament, alongside Seattle Center's must-see attractions, partner organizations and previously scheduled events and festivals.Fans will also get to experience all of the FIFA World Cup excitement at "Seattle Soccer House" at Pacific Place, featuring a recently completed and spectacular four-story, high-resolution, interior LED screen constructed within a five-story interior mall. While surrounded by fellow fans, interactive activations and information booths, the space will transform into a vibrant soccer hub at the heart of Seattle, complete with convenient direct-access parking. The celebration is hosted by SeattleFWC26 and BH Properties, and will provide fan experiences daily through the last Seattle match on July 6.For the FIFA World Cup, "Meet Me at Waterfront Park" - Seattle's newest and iconic civic space - will be specially programmed and activated by Friends of Waterfront Park. During the tournament, Friends will activate the full 20-acre park with free public programming that will reflect the spirit and diversity of Seattle, while partnering with the Sounders, Reign and RAVE Foundation to host fan experiences on Pier 62.Meanwhile, the Mariners will host "Seattle Matchday Live at Victory Hall," where fans can hear the roar of the stadium while enjoying FIFA energy and a 23-foot screen throughout the tournament at Victory Hall. The celebration will be open every day of the FIFA World Cup. According to SeattleFWC26, most celebration locations intend to be open for the majority of the tournament, not just the six matches in Seattle. Capacity across the four venues will vary depending on match day, with the highest capacity planned for Seattle matches, which remains around 15,000 people at any one time. All locations will be positioned along the Unity Loop and accessible for fans by public transportation, including Sound Transit Link Light Rail, King County Metro, the Seattle Monorail, ferries, water taxis, bicycles and walking. The distributed model will spread economic benefits across Seattle neighborhoods to create opportunities for local vendors and small businesses at multiple locations rather than just centralizing activities at a single location, SeattleFWC26 said. Additionally, the Downtown Seattle Association will also be activating in Westlake, as well as several other parks and public spaces managed across the downtown core with fun, interactive, soccer-themed programming, the committee added. Other sites will be added throughout the spring, including the Central and Chinatown-International District. As other fan events get finalized, businesses, community groups and other cities are encouraged to submit the details to the new SeattleFWC26 Community Calendar - the fans' one-stop shop to see what World Cup-related events are happening across the region. In partnership with local jurisdictions, business associations, chambers of commerces and other community partners, there are also nine official SeattleFWC26 fan zones across the state - Bellingham, Bremerton, Everett, Olympia/Lacey, Spokane, Tacoma, Tri-Cities, Vancouver and Yakima - so that Washington residents and visitors can collectively enjoy the thrill of FIFA. Updates about fan zone activities planned in those nine cities will be released in the days ahead, the committee said.Alaska Airlines flight returns to Wichita after passenger's phone, power bank overheat An Alaska Airlines flight headed from Wichita to Seattle returned to Wichita shortly after takeoff this afternoon after a passenger’s cell phone overheated. In the 1970s, the U.S. agency that provides health care to Native Americans sterilized thousands of women without their full and informed consent.A Gig Harbor couple currently vacationing in Puerto Vallarta watched as chaos unfolded around their condominium in the streets of Mexico Sunday.A Seattle police officer was fired after an investigation found he violated department policies related to honesty, professionalism and adherence to the law.
