The United States Coast Guard is searching for two men believed to be missing after their boat was found overturned and damaged on Christmas Eve near Palos Verdes Estates. The boaters, who are described as men in their 50s, left Cabrillo on Monday and were expected home by midnight but never checked in. The boat was discovered around 5 a.m. on Tuesday by a beach walker. Officials are urging caution due to a high-surf advisory in effect for the area.

"I see a lot of stuff washed up, but never a fully overturned boat," said Finley Murphy.Murphy had been walking on the beach Tuesday with a friend looking for shells and noticed the wreckage."It was completely overturned," said Murphy. "There were holes in it.""Definitely a bummer with the holidays around," said Olivia Mozian. "It’s awful. Puts a damper especially for the families in that circumstance.
