Sean Dyche has called for a collective Everton response following the club's second points deduction this season
Everton manager Sean Dyche has called for a collective ‘Spirit of the Blues’ in the wake of the club’s latest points deduction.
After losing 3-0 at home to Manchester United in their first game after the first deduction, Everton then went on a four-game winning streak in the Premier League, defeating Nottingham Forest, Newcastle United, Chelsea and Burnley. Ahead of tonight’s trip to Stamford Bridge, Dyche was asked whether the latest decision might spark a similar positive reaction among the team.
“It’s a rocky road for them, it’s not an easy pathway. They keep turning up, they keep singing, they question us as well – that’s fine, I’ve never had a problem with that and have total respect for that – and they travel everywhere.” Everton plan to appeal this latest punishment, meaning another hearing that might not be concluded until the deadline of May 24, five days after the end of the Premier League season. That means, with Forest also appealing, the table could change again, and potentially after the final whistle of the final game of the season.
