Ayr United manager Scott Brown has withdrawn his candidacy for the vacant manager position at St Johnstone, opting to remain with his current club. The Perth-based club is actively searching for a replacement following Craig Levein's departure last week.
Scott Brown is no longer in contention to land the vacant manager's job at St Johnstone - according to a report.
But the Daily Mail now claim that the former Celtic skipper has dropped out of the race to succeed Levein following talks with Saints owner US owner Adam Webb and will remain in Ayrshire. St Johnstone are keen on Aberdeen's first team coach Peter Leven, who impressed in his spell as interim boss of the Dons last season before returning to the backroom staff following the arrival of Jimmy Thelin.
