Celtic hero Scott Brown has told of how he was 'inspired' by former Rangers boss Graeme Souness to get 'involved' and give hope to disabled children suffering from butterfly skin.

Celtic legend Scott Brown says he has been "inspired" by former Rangers boss Graeme Souness to give hope to disabled children.

He said: “I went along with Graeme to the Debra charity dinner at the Hilton in Glasgow for the first time a few months ago.“To see Graeme go up on stage and speak openly about what it means to him and what he has done for the charity and how he has brought awareness to the charity was inspiring. Souness was described by the 15-year-old Pride of Scotland award winner as tough on the outside and “squishy” on the inside.

The two Old Firm legends have always had a mutual respect for the other’s footballing ability but Brown’s admiration for Souness grew when he learned of his commitment to the charity. On Thursday Brown, now manager at Ayr United, visited Debra’s shop in Ayr where he chatted with some volunteers to find out how they had learned about the charity. He said: “One of the volunteers learned about it from her friend who was cuddling her newborn baby in new clothes.
