The Sheffield Wednesday boss appeared in no mood to address Scott Wright rumours as he spoke out ahead of the new season
Sheffield Wednesday boss Danny Rohl offered a cagey response to a reporter when pressed on whether or not Scott Wright would be the next signing in the door at Hillsborough.
The 26-year-old Rangers winger has been tipped for an Ibrox exit for some time now and the interest from the Championship club has ramped up in recent days. Speaking to the BBC Sport South Yorkshire show Football Heaven, following the Owls 2-0 friendly victory over Alfreton, the 35-year-old German manager sidestepped the reporter's quest for answers on a number of signings the Owls were looking to make.
When quizzed directly on transfer rumours surrounding Wright, and whether the deal was all but done, he said: "I will not speak about names because it makes no sense. This market goes so quick. We have an idea what we want to have, I have an idea of how I want to play in the new season. "We know what we have to improve when we look back from last season and then it’s about finding the right pieces to make our squad stronger and stronger because we are very ambitious for the new season."
Wright was not the only subject the Wednesday boss was keen to avoid, as the subject of a new striker was also met with similar short shrift. "I think we will work on different positions now," he said. "I think to find deals, to make deals done it's always about negotiation, sometimes to be patient, but I think we showed in the last seven days that we are really pushed forward and we should keep this pace now.
