Renovation of the historic Smollett Fountain in Alexandria , West Dunbartonshire, cost £254,000 but it won’t function as a water feature.
West Dunbartonshire Council’s Vale of Leven Masterplan said: “People are also keen to see reinstatement of the disconnected water supply to the gravity fed fountain. “If you spend that amount of money on a restoration for a fountain then it really should be functioning. It’s unfortunate that can’t be achieved.”
