Scientists identified six different types of love in a new brain study.Each type activates different parts of the brain depending on the kind of human experience.Researchers explain which type of love was felt the strongest and what this means about human connection.There’s been plenty of research on the five love languages. But a new study shows that there are actually six different types of love, and each activates a different part of the brain.

“In parental love, there was activation deep in the brain’s reward system,” Pärttyli Rinne, the study co-author and researcher at Aalto University in Finland, said in a statement, adding that such intense brain activity “was not seen for any other kind of love.”Surprisingly, all types of love between people seemed to activate the same areas in the brain regardless of the closeness of the relationship, but differing only in the intensity of brain activation.
