Saquon Barkley left the Giants in Arizona with an injured right ankle.
Barkley is no stranger to injuries. The former No. 2 overall pick out of Penn State missed three weeks in 2019 with an ankle sprain and suffered a season-ending torn ACL in Week 2 of the 2020 season. He fought back from that injury to record a career-high 295 carries and 1,312 yards last season as the Giants went 9-7-1 and won their first postseason game in a decade.
If Barkley has to miss time, the Giants would enter a key stretch of their season relying on backups Matt Breida and Gary Brightwell. To make the situation worse, the team faces a short week before traveling to San Francisco to face one of the NFC’s top defenses. Thank you for relying on us to provide the journalism you can trust.
