The street artist behind the popular murals of Bad Bunny and Hispanic Elvis has just completed a Christmas card-worthy wall painting of Santa Claus at 317 West Jones Ave. near the San Antonio Museum of Art. And in typical Valentine fashion, it’s a real 210 spin on St. Nick.Valentine has depicted the oft fair-skinned and blue-eyed icon as a holly, jolly man of color with a darker complexion, brown eyes and even a facial tattoo.
“I just wanted to do something different that hella means San Antonio,” Valentine said. “And a Big Red instead of Santa holding the typical Coca-Cola? Holding a Big Red is so simple, but it means so much.” Valentine cranked out the mural in around three days due to weather. The Big Red in place of a Coke is a pop-art twist he likens to the work of Andy Warhol. And the face tattoo makes his Santa “a little more hood,” he said.
