AVON, Ohio -- The Avon Parks and Recreation Department will be kicking off the city’s holiday activities Nov. 18 when Santa Claus makes an early visit to the Wilbur Cahoon House Museum.Residents can bring a group of up to eight people for photos with Santa, and are asked to not arrive more than five minutes early for their appointment, as parking is limited. For those who enjoy history, the home of the Cahoon family -- Avon’s first settlers -- is located at 2940 Stoney Ridge Road.“On Sept.
“The original Cahoon family log cabin was built just south of the current home’s location, near the place where Stoney Ridge Road crosses over the French Creek.” Construction of the historic, 12-room Greek Revival-style home began in 1825.
