SAN JOSE — A tow-truck driver was killed in an apparent hit-and-run collision Saturday night after he exited his vehicle on Highway 101 in San Jose, according to authorities.
The California Highway Patrol was alerted to a collision involving a pedestrian at about 11:47 p.m. Saturday just north of Tully Road on northbound Highway 101. Responding officers found a body on the roadway. Investigators found that a tow-truck driver had pulled to the right shoulder, exited his vehicle and walked into traffic lanes to retrieve something when he was struck by a vehicle, later identified as a white Toyota RAV4, according to the CHP.The CHP said the tow-truck driver’s body was hit by a second vehicle before coming to a rest in the roadway.
