San Francisco leaders say they are working with California officials to determine how to move forward with zero-emissions transportation work following the Trump administration’s temporary suspension of a program geared toward electric-vehicle charging station expansion.

Joseph Piasecki, a spokesman for the San Francisco Department of the Environment, said in a statement that municipalities do not typically apply for or automatically receive money from the NEVI Formula Program. According to data from the U.S. Department of Energy, California has the most electric charging station locations in the country , while the state also has the most available number of charging ports .
