A San Diego man has pleaded guilty to a federal distribution charge after selling fentanyl to a Carlsbad woman, resulting in her death. The case highlights the dangers of fentanyl and the ongoing fight against drug trafficking.
A San Diego man, Bryan Kim Bullard, 43, pleaded guilty to a federal distribution charge after selling fentanyl to a Carlsbad woman, leading to her fatal overdose . Bullard admitted in a plea agreement that he sold fentanyl to the 25-year-old victim, identified as D.G., at a San Diego apartment on the night of September 9, 2023. Shortly after the sale, Bullard texted someone for Narcan, an overdose treatment medication, and called 911 from D.G.'s phone.
When emergency responders arrived, they found D.G. unconscious in the apartment's bathroom. Bullard was arrested two months later and had fentanyl and methamphetamine on him. Both sides stipulated in the plea agreement that the fentanyl Bullard sold D.G. caused her death. Bullard's co-defendant, Cameron William Fulston, of Carlsbad, remains charged for his alleged role in the fentanyl sale. Fulston was found incompetent to stand trial earlier this year and awaits a status hearing next month regarding his competency
