Temperatures are expected to reach the upper 90s today and Sunday, but all eyes are on the tropics next week.
We’re halfway through June, and the major theme so far this month has been the constant heat. San Antonio temperatures have hit 100 degrees five times since June 1, and the average high temperature so far this month has been 97.8 degrees, the third-hottest start to June in the city’s history. That trend looks to continue this weekend as temperatures stay above average for mid-June.
Watching the tropics The National Hurricane Center is watching an area in the southwestern corner of the Gulf of Mexico. They give the unstable atmosphere in the region a moderate chance of developing into the first tropical depression of the year. Most weather models are bringing the center of the tropical system slowly into the east coast of northern Mexico. The system is likely to be slow-moving and stay relatively disorganized.
