San Taco, named No. 1 on the Express-News ranking of San Antonio's Top 10 tacos, will serve its last taco on Fredericksburg Road Dec. 31.
Importing clay pots and dishes from Mexico is a delicate business. So many of the terra cotta plates, coffee cups and cazuelas shatter along the way. One San Antonio taquería celebrates those broken pieces by turning them into wall art. Soon those broken pieces will be packed up all over again. San Taco , the Fredericksburg Road taco shop that opened in October 2022 and rose to No. 1 on the Express-News ranking of San Antonio ’s Top 10 tacos, will close Dec. 31.
Top 25 Mexican restaurant closing In just two years, San Taco also earned recognition from the Express-News as one of San Antonio’s Top 25 Mexican restaurants and a place in the “Eat the Street” series as one of the businesses shaping the character of Fredericksburg Road. News of San Taco’s looming closure comes just a week after Lala’s Gordita’s, another Top 25 Mexican restaurant, announced that it will close Dec. 24.
