A UT-Health San Antonio doctor says the warning is for those looking for cheaper services who are turning to makeshift clinics for the anti-wrinkle injections.
and the Food and Drug Administration have issued an emergency warning after a cluster of 22 people in 11 states reported adverse effects from counterfeit or mishandled botulin toxin injections.
The states impacted include Texas, California, Colorado, Florida, Illinois, Kentucky, Nebraska, New Jersey, New York, Tennessee, and Washington. The people affected were women ages 25 to 29 years old, who received injections by unlicensed, untrained individuals or in non-health care settings, like homes or spas.“They may be that they’ve been incorrectly administered, or it may be that the product itself is defective,” Fries said.
