The City of San Antonio is trying to connect renters with more affordable options. The City of San Antonio just launched Housing Base to make it easier for residents to locate affordable rental units throughout the city.
SAN ANTONIO — According to the National Low Income Housing Coalition, 70% of all extremely low-income families spend more than half of their income on rent. In the storm of inflation, finding affordable housing has become a luxury. The City of San Antonio is trying to connect renters with more affordable options.Gomez is excited to be living at Frontera Crossing.It’s the newest affordable housing development on the Southwest Side of San Antonio.
Gomez sa the last of her five kids are in high school. But finding a place nearby within her budget was a task. Robles says they serve over 57,000 families. Despite so many getting assistance, there are still 65,000 families on the waitlist for affordable housing. “This new dashboard is essential,” Robles said. “They can go in and talk about what area of town they want to live in, what kind of accommodations they are looking for in a home and what’s the price.”
