After being released in theaters in late January, Send Help quickly became one of the most successful R-rated films Raimi has ever directed and only the second to surpass $50 million globally. Drag Me to Hell, released in 2009, earned $91 million, and Send Help has now grossed $93 million, setting a record for the director. 20th Century Studios announced that Send Help will be available on digital platforms like Prime Video, Apple TV and Fandango at Home starting on March 24. Then the film will be released on 4K Ultra HD and DVD a month later on April 21, with more than two hours of special features like bloopers, behind-the-scenes footage, early versions of select scenes and more. In Send Help, Linda Liddle , an employee at a financial management company, gets stranded on a deserted island with Bradley Preston , her boss and the CEO of the organization, after their plane crashes. The two try to survive the harsh elements and each other after Linda has had to put up with Bradley's mean behavior. As tensions rise, a stunning role reversal takes place on the island. McAdams and O'Brien's co-stars in the film include Edyll Ismail, Xavier Samuel, Chris Pang, Dennis Haysbert, Thaneth Warakulnukroh, Emma Raimi and Kristy Best. Raimi produced Send Help with Zainab Azizi, and hired Danny Elfman to compose the music as they continued their long-running partnership after working together on several films, including Spider-Man. Not only were the box office returns for Send Help impressive, but the film is also Certified Fresh on Rotten Tomatoes with a 93% critic score, tying Spider-Man 2 as Raimi's highest-rated movie. Critics have praised the chemistry between the two lead stars and called the film thrilling, twisted, intense, campy and funny.The horror thriller almost became a streaming exclusive. At one point, Send Help was being produced by Sony, who wanted it to be a lower-budget product that bypassed theaters completely. However, this didn't sit right with Raimi, who eventually took the production to 20th Century Studios, a risk that paid off for the director. Before Send Help, Raimi's best-known works included the Spider-Man trilogy with Tobey Maguire and the first three Evil Dead movies. He's also directed For Love of the Game, Oz the Great and Powerful and Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, and produced Poltergeist, The Grudge and The Possession, among many others. His horror films have made him a sought-after director in the horror genre.
