The Salvation Army in Central Ohio is urging community members to contribute to its holiday initiatives aimed at supporting local families in need.

"We need donations from the community more than ever, and so we have simplified the process of giving," said Major Tricia Brennan. "We understand that giving is an important part of the holiday season for many, and in times of financial strain, we appreciate the generosity greatly. We hope streamlining the donation process makes it easier for our supporters."

The Salvation Army's Christmas Cheer program annually assists over 4,700 lower-income families, providing them with gifts and a full Christmas dinner. Last year, the Angel Tree program collected 10,362 toys, ensuring children received gifts on Christmas Day.to make secure online donations and learn more about each Christmas program. The website also offers options to purchase toys for children through the Virtual Angel Tree, with online registries available at Walmart and Amazon.

"Each purchase is sent directly to our offices for distribution, making it simple and convenient to brighten a child's holiday," Brennan said. Monetary donations will also support the Red Box Holiday Meal program, which provides central Ohio families with a holiday meal. For $75, donors can supply a family with a Red Box containing everything needed for a warm holiday meal and a joyful gathering.
