Grandfather of alleged Uvalde gunman tells ABC he didn’t know grandson had weapons
, Ramos had purchased the weapons two days before he went on a shooting rampage at Robb Elementary School in Uvalde, a city of approximately 16,000 located 80 miles west of San Antonio, killing 19 children and two adults.
Reyes said, “It still hasn’t sunk in,” knowing his grandson was the shooter who was involved in one of the deadliest school shootings in U.S. history,according to news reportsRamos had purchased the two assault rifles six days after his 18th birthday, making them legal purchases, according to law enforcement officials.
Reyes said his grandson had been living with him and his grandmother because he and his mother had been having problems. He said Ramos kept to himself, spending a lot of time in his room and was quiet, seldom saying a word to him,The grandfather said his grandson hadn’t been going to school for the past year and didn’t graduate. Whenever he would bring the subject of school to Ramos,Reyes said his grandson would make conversation with him sometimes when he took him to work.
