While residing in Salt Lake, the Federal Bureau of Investigations said Kaczynski attempted to bomb the city twice, though only one ended with his success.
Ted Kaczynski, nationally known as the "Unabomber" for his 17-year bombing spree that killed three and injured 23 others, moved to Salt Lake City after relocating from California where he taught at UC Berkeley.described Kaczynski as being "apparently unpopular among undergraduates, who gave him poor ratings because he seemed nervous while teaching and was unresponsive during office hours."said Kaczynski attempted to bomb the city twice, though only one ended with his success.
Officials responded to the hallway of the building where the bomb was planted and were able to safely detonate it without causing injury. Officials said that it was a recommendation of the task force to publish the essay, which they ultimately went through with in hopes that a reader could identify the author.
