KOTA KINABALU: Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu) state chairman Datuk Hajiji Mohd Noor says that the party is now opposition in the state government led by Parti Warisan Sabah’s Datuk Seri Mohd Shafie Apdal.
He said with developments in Kuala Lumpur where party president Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin was sworn in as Prime Minister, Sabah Bersatu would automatically become the opposition party at the state level.
Bersatu spread its wings to Sabah in April 2019 amid protests by Warisan and its partners Upko, DAP and PKR, and their relations in the new partnership have remained stormy. Musa, who was ousted by Shafie after the May 2018 general election following defections from Umno and Barisan assemblymen, remains the lone Sabah Umno assemblyman in the 65-member house.
However, observers believe that it would not be an easy task to topple the Warisan-led state government following the shift in political power at the federal level.
