The Rusty Taco franchisee in San Antonio has filed for bankruptcy protection, citing a tough economy and rising food costs. Lone Star Restaurant Group LLC, which does business as the Rusty Taco store in Bulverde Marketplace at 17026 Bulverde Road, reported assets of less than $50,000 and liabilities of more than $1 million in a petition filed Monday in U.S. Bankruptcy Court in San Antonio. “We’re not closing,” said Andrew Besing, a Lone Star member.

The chain was co-founded by Denise Fenton and her husband, Rusty Fenton, who died in 2013. The concept was inspired in large part by their family’s visits to taco stands in Texas and Mexico.
