Russell Crowe as Noah in Noah
Russell Crowe is hard at work on the press tour right now for his new WWII movie, Nuremberg, but 11 years ago, he starred in a biblical epic that’s having an unexpected resurgence on streaming. Crowe stars alongside Jennifer Connelly and Anthony Hopkins in Noah, the 2014 faith-based film telling the story of the man chosen by God to save two of every living species before he cleanses the world of sin.
More than 10 years after its release, Noah has returned to the VOD top 10 charts globally in several countries. Noah is, unfortunately, not streaming anywhere in the United States at the time of writing. However, with the film gaining popularity in overseas markets, it likely won’t be long before it returns to streaming in America. Critics were kind to Crowe’s Noah, rating it a Certified Fresh 75% on Rotten Tomatoes. The film was panned by fans, though, which led to it holding a Rotten 41% on the audience-driven Popcornmeter. Noah didn’t struggle at the box office despite its middling audience reception — the film, which also stars Emma Watson and Logan Lerman, grossed $359 million against a $125 million budget. Noah was written and directed by Darren Aronofsky, with help from Ari Handel on the script. Aronofsky most recently released Caught Stealing, the crime thriller starring Austin Butler and Matt Smith. He’s also famous for his work directing The Whale, the 2022 heartfelt drama that helped Brendan Fraser win his first Oscar. Noah was Aronofsky’s first film after Black Swan, the 2010 psychological thriller starring Natalie Portman that won one Oscar and was nominated for four more. Russell Crowe’s Next Movie Has Been Delayed One of Russell Crowe’s next projects will be the Highlander reboot led by Henry Cavill and directed by Chad Stahelski. Highlander was scheduled to begin filming at the start of October, but after Cavill suffered a foot injury while training for the film, the start of production has been pushed back to early next year. No release date has been announced, but this will certainly leave the film hitting theaters everywhere a few months later than originally planned. Cavill recently took to his personal Instagram to show himself back in the gym, despite having a boot on his foot. Rent or purchase Noah on VOD platforms like Prime Video and stay tuned to Collider for more streaming updates. 8.0/10 Noah 10 stars 9 stars 8 stars 7 stars 6 stars 5 stars 4 stars 3 stars 2 stars 1 star Like PG-13 Drama Action Adventure Release Date March 28, 2014 Runtime 138 Minutes Director Darren Aronofsky Writers Darren Aronofsky, Ari Handel Cast See All
