Rising U.K. rockabilly duo Ruen Brothers premiered their new song"Break the Rules" for Netflix's upcoming original movieOn the swaying track, the siblings detail the blossoming odd-couple friendship at the heart of the coming-of-age story, which stars Leah Lewis and Daniel Diemer.
"We wrote 'Break The Rules' for a melancholic montage part of the film where the main characters are grappling with difficult emotions and choices while going about their daily lives," the Ruen Brothers tell."The initial rough idea was to write a gentle country/Americana dance song.
The soundtrack for the heartfelt LGBTQ teen drama is also set to include three other songs from the Ruen Brothers, including"Flying Cars" and"Takin' It Easy " off their forthcoming sophomore studio set, which is set to arrive later this year.premieres on Netflix on Friday . Following the film's premiere, the duo are also set to host a live stream performance on Warm Audio's Facebook page on Saturday at 7:00 p.m. EDT.
