The railroad bridge on Route 75 in Port Royal, Juniata County, is now expected to reopen in early November 2023, PennDOT said on Oct. 10, 2023. The bridge has been closed since March for rehabilitation.Residents of Port Royal in Juniata County will have to contend with the Route 75 bridge closure for a little bit longer.
“In August, PennDOT said they would try to accelerate this project when site conditions warrant to complete it as quickly as possible without sacrificing quality standards or the safety of stakeholders. However, acceleration has not been possible due to project constraints.” The detour remains in place. The detour uses Route 3002 , Route 35, and Route 333 before returning to Route 75. PennDOT said the detour “has functioned efficiently during this project, causing minimal delays or traffic queueing.”
The $4 million project started in September 2022 with preliminary work that included demolishing a two-story building on Second Street. The project includes partial removal of the existing structure, building its replacement, paving, drainage improvements, water and sewer line replacements and sidewalk and guide rail replacement.If you purchase a product or register for an account through a link on our site, we may receive compensation.
