Skate into the holiday season starting this weekend at the Rotary Ice Rink , which will reopen for the winter at Travis Park . The Rotary Club of San Antonio 's downtown ice rink, sponsored by Valero , will welcome its first skaters at 5 p.m. Friday, according to the attraction's website. The rink will stay open through the Christmas season and close after Jan. 5.
Next cold front will hit South Texas at night. Here's how much temperatures will drop. San Antonians can lace up their skates every day of the week until then, with skate times available from 5 to 10 p.m. Monday to Thursday and from 5 to 11 p.m. Fridays. On Saturdays, the rink is open from 1 to 10:30 p.m., and on Sundays it is open from 1 to 8 p.m. Holiday hours for Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas, New Year's Eve and New Year's Day are available on the Rotary Ice Rink website.

Some walk-ups may be admitted if there are slots available, but if the rink is fully booked, skaters will have to come back another time. General admission tickets are $15 plus tax every day but Tuesday, when the price drops to $11 plus tax for Cheap Skate Nights.
