At NAMM , Roli unveiled a 49-key smart keyboard designed primarily for learners but boasting impressive features for experienced musicians. The Roli Piano features illuminated keys across all octaves, aiding beginners in mastering chords.
These keys also glow to demonstrate scales, arpeggios, and more, similar to the company's popular Piano M teaching keyboard. For seasoned musicians, the Roli Piano offers per-key pitch bend and polyphonic aftertouch, enabling expressive playing. It also tracks fingers in four distinct ways while playing, facilitating seamless control of MIDI Polyphonic Expression (MPE) instruments. This advanced finger tracking technology further bridges the gap between digital and acoustic instruments.Embracing modern technology, Roli incorporated AI tools into the Roli Piano. The Piano AI Assistant utilizes generative AI to streamline the learning process. The company claims it can assist players with drills, music history lessons, and theoretical concepts. This AI functionality will continue to evolve through software updates throughout the year. Additionally, buyers receive Roli Studio, a collection of instruments and presets. Roli also showcased the Airwave, a theremin-like device that tracks finger movements and transmits teaching data to a tablet.
