Investigators determined Timothy Brooks Jr., 20, was with Raphael Marquez, 17, when Marquez shot James Jackson Jr., 39, during an attempted robberyJackson was reportedly sitting in his vehicle around 6:15 p.m. when he was shot multiple times. Police said he tried to drive away but crashed into a pole. He died from his injuries at the University of Rochester Medical Center.Monday. He was taken to the Monroe County Children's Detention Center.
Officers found Brooks and arrested him Monday on robbery and grand larceny charges, which police said stemmed from aHe was arraigned and bail was set, according to police. They reportedly learned Friday morning that he was slated to be released later in the day. Investigators then charged him with second-degree murder for Jackson's death.
Brooks, who police said was on parole supervision that expired in April, is set to be arraigned Saturday.
