RJ Barrett missed the Knicks’ 118-109 win over the Wizards on Sunday – which clinched a berth in the regular playoffs – with an undisclosed non-COVID illness.
He’ll be available and ready to go for the team’s game against the Pacers Wednesday night, head coach Tom Thibodeau confirmed following practice on Tuesday.
Barrett admitted he’s still “feeling a little under the weather,” but wouldn’t say what the illness was. The Knicks’ magic number to secure the No. 5 seed is just one, meaning a win or a Nets loss to the Pistons, Magic or 76ers will do it. The Nets’ game against the Timberwolves Tuesday evening did not count in the equation as it’s neither a conference or division game and does not factor into the tiebreaker with the Knicks. Julius Randle, who is expected to miss at least the rest of the regular season with a sprained left ankle, will not travel with the team to Indiana.Randle has already been sidelined for the Knicks’ last two games, wins over the Cavaliers and Wizards.
