PARK CITY — Detective Jeff O'Driscoll returns to the witness stand on Thursday for the rest of his testimony in the trial for Kouri Richins, who is accused of fatally poisoning her husband.He testified Wednesday about a letter found in her jail cell that prosecutors claim outlines false testimony she wanted her family to give.
He also discussed interviewing the woman who claims she provided illicit drugs to Richins, in addition to texts and calls Richins made after she was arrested. He testified about the children's book Richins wrote about dealing with grief and said her mom sent a copy of the book anonymously to the sheriff's office.Defense attorneys already began their cross examination of O'Driscoll, who prosecutors have said is their final witness. The attorneys asked for a half-hour break after prosecutors rest to discuss the next steps they want to take with Richins.The Kamas mom and real estate agent is accused of killing Eric Richins on March 4, 2022. She is also accused of slipping drugs into his food, making him sick, on Valentine's Day in 2022. Her trial is scheduled to last until March 27.Kouri Richins is charged with aggravated murder and attempted aggravated murder, first-degree felonies, two counts of insurance fraud, a second-degree felony, and forgery, a third-degree felony. She also has a separate case with additional financial charges, which will not be considered by this jury.Watch the trial streamed live here: This story will be updated.
