Rey's Next Star Wars Movie Will Prove Whether Luke Was Right In The Last Jedi

Rey’s upcoming New Jedi Order movie will prove whether Luke Skywalker was right about letting the Jedi come to an end in Star Wars: The Last Jedi. Rian Johnson’s The Last Jedi showed audiences an entirely different side of Luke Skywalker. This older version of Luke was cautious and jaded, deeply affected by his nephew’s fall and his own inability to see the darkness creeping in.

Star Wars’ major conflicts all involve the Jedi in one way or another. In the featurette video, Johnson says that Luke had concluded that “The galaxy thinks it wants the Jedi back. But the Jedi have done nothing but add to the problems of the universe.” His disappearing act is, in Luke’s mind, a selfless sacrifice.
