World No. 4 Aaron-Wooi Yik face a tough task to defend their historic world crown in the meet from Aug 21-27 in Copenhagen after an inconsistent year so far.
This is the gauntlet thrown down by national doubles coaching director Rexy Mainaky to top men’s pair Aaron Chia-Soh Wooi Yik.
Rexy admitted that Aaron-Wooi Yik did not meet expectations in the tournaments and called on the pair to maintain their hunger to stand a chance of defending their world title.“If you see, they have not won any titles since the world crown last year. Then, Aaron-Wooi Yik, who were the hot favourites to capture the Commonwealth Games individual gold in Birmingham fell to a shock defeat to homesters Ben Lane-Sean Vendy in the last four and were forced to settle for bronze.
