With Resident Evil Requiem being one of the most explosively popular entries in the survival horror franchise, fans have been picking apart every square inch of the game for Easter eggs and other potential secrets.

While players have already found plenty of mysteries hiding throughout Requiem's story, one of the best reveals has been getting massively overshadowed by a more comedic character detail. While not the first to make the discovery, X user eokonicbunny offered a more zoomed-in view using freecam tools that clearly shows Grace browsing on Reddit during Requiem's backstory section of the prologue. While countless fans have been making insights and memes about Grace being a Redditor, the most exciting aspect comes from what Grace was reading about, which was a thread discussing the events of Resident Evil 7: Biohazard. Grace Knew About The Baker Family Before Requiem While Resident Evil Requiem has several surprising references to RE7 and Resident Evil Village throughout its campaign, the most direct Easter egg has been hiding right under our noses and just out of view this entire time on Grace's laptop. Displaying a thread from r/amateurjournalists, the post discusses the aftermath of the RE7 incident and offers an insight into public perception of its events. Describing the event as a potential cover-up, the original post lays out that the Sheriff's department stated the entire family was found dead, and the deputy who investigated the manor is still missing, with additional replies outlining the following: One of the three comments even suggests that they"think this is even bigger than most people assume", and that"It's definitely related to all the other weird stuff happening." While another comment was a bit more tongue in cheek, saying"It's not some cheesy horror movie" in a response to the idea they were eaten by the"giant black monster" prowling the area. While the comments don't shed any new light on the incident that we experienced firsthand ourselves, it does offer a rare glimpse into the wider world of Resident Evil's normal population, and how they view the mysterious events of the series. The final comment even suggests that Jack Baker"probably killed the whole family and then offed himself" after reading about his violent past. On top of the sidebar offering additional details and references, some fans found it even more endearing that Grace was"following in her mama's footsteps" as pointed out by X user shoe_remake, which more than likely sparked her later interest in a career with the FBI. Requiem Has More Than A Few Nods To Past Entries Given that Requiem's prologue takes place only a year after RE7's Baker incident, it feels like the perfect way to connect the two entries, while also adding even more characterization to Grace, despite some confusion that "Capcom would put the effort into adding that detail which wouldn't be seen normally". Aside from the return of fan-favorite characters and mechanics like Ink Ribbons that skipped a few entries, the amount of hidden details in Requiem just goes to show how much effort was put into the long-awaited sequel, being well worth its record-breaking development time. With several other Easter eggs ranging from nods to the original games like Leon's 'welcome home' sign, the keychain Ada gave Leon in Resident Evil 4, and several assets pulled straight from RE7 and RE8, there's likely even more hidden within Resident Evil Requiem that have gone entirely unnoticed so far, and are just waiting to be spotted by an eagle-eyed fan.
