First responders spent Saturday morning battling a structure fire.
According to Montgomery Fire/Rescue, units responded to the 1500 Block of Louisville Street at around 5 a.m. where they found a building with visible smoke. The fire was extinguished with no injuries reported.
A viewer told WSFA 12 News that it was the RePower South recycling plant that had been the subject of the fire. “The floor of the recycling facility did catch fire early this morning and Montgomery Fire Department quickly responded,” said vice president of RePower South Montgomery Brian Gilhuly in a statement. “The fire has been contained and crews continue to work onsite to eliminate the possibility of a re-start. Initial damage assessment appears minimal but we can not yet predict when the facility will reopen.
