Reports state that the bus may have left Texas on Saturday and that there has been no communication between Texas leaders and Philadelphia officials concerning the matter.
The transportation of migrants via bus is a Texas policy that has ramped up this year. Destinations have been so-called sanctuary cities including New York, Chicago and Washington, D.C.said the state has bused more than 13,000 migrants, including 8,300 to Washington, 3,500 to New York and 1,100 to Chicago.
U.S. authorities are grappling with unusually large numbers of migrants crossing the border from Mexico amid rapidly changing demographics. The Biden administration in September said that people from Venezuela, Cuba and Nicaragua accounted for more than one of three migrants stopped at the border in August. Authorities stopped migrants 2.15 million times from October through August, the first time above 2 million during the government’s fiscal year.
