A television reporter covering the Super Bowl in New Orleans was found dead in his hotel room, leading to the arrest of a woman. Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the death and awaiting autopsy results. The reporter, Adan Manzano, was a rising star at Telemundo Kansas City and leaves behind a young daughter.
A 27-year-old television reporter, Adan Manzano, was found dead in his hotel room in Kenner , Louisiana, while covering the Super Bowl . Police have arrested Danette Colbert, a 48-year-old Louisiana resident, and charged her with four felony counts, as well as a misdemeanor fraud and theft charge. She is also facing a state felony charge of possession of a stolen firearm, though Kenner Police do not believe it's related to Manzano's death.
Colbert was seen on security footage arriving with Manzano at his hotel room around 5 a.m. the day of his death and leaving without him about an hour later. Authorities later found Manzano's credit card and cellphone at Colbert's residence in Slidell, along with narcotics. Investigators believe Colbert acted alone. Manzano, an anchor and reporter for Telemundo in Kansas City, Missouri, was described as a 'rising star' and 'true professional' by his colleagues. He leaves behind a 2-year-old daughter. Kenner police are awaiting the results of the coroner's full autopsy to determine the cause of death. Toxicology tests are underway and are expected to take three to four weeks. There was no obvious physical trauma found on Manzano's body. Colbert has a history of arrests, including two felony charges of grand larceny and administering a drug to aid in a felony crime in Las Vegas in 2022. Both cases were dismissed because the victims did not want to testify in court. Manzano's death is a tragedy that has shaken the local community and the telecommunications industry. He was a dedicated journalist who was committed to serving his community. His death serves as a reminder of the dangers that can lurk in unexpected places
