A Kansas City television reporter covering the Super Bowl was found dead in his Louisiana hotel room. Police have arrested a woman in connection with the case.
A Kansas City television reporter, Adan Manzano, was found dead in his hotel room in Kenner, Louisiana , on Wednesday while covering the Super Bowl . Manzano, 27, worked as an anchor and reporter for Telemundo Kansas City. Police have arrested 49-year-old Danette Colbert of Louisiana in connection with Manzano's death. Colbert faces multiple felony charges, including credit card fraud and theft, as well as a state felony charge of possession of a stolen firearm.
Kenner Police say Colbert was seen on security video arriving at Manzano's hotel room around 5 a.m. on the day of his death and leaving about an hour later without him. They also say that Colbert used Manzano's credit card at several stores in the area, and authorities later located Manzano's credit card and cellphone at Colbert's residence in Slidell, northeast of New Orleans. Police have also uncovered narcotics at Colbert's residence. Investigators believe Colbert acted alone. Police are awaiting the results of the coroner's full autopsy, which will determine whether Manzano's death was a homicide. The coroner's office is conducting toxicology tests, and results are expected to take three to four weeks. There was no obvious physical trauma found on Manzano's body. Manzano was a 'rising star' and 'true professional', according to Telemundo Kansas City General Manager Steve Downing. He was a bilingual television anchor and reporter who loved sports and had covered the Kansas City Chiefs' past two Super Bowl victories. He had been raising his 2-year-old daughter on his own with help from family after his wife died last year in a car accident
