Social media rumors that indicated large amounts of funding would be diverted away from south Alabama ’s Fort Novosel are not true, U.S. Rep. Barry Moore , R-District 2, confirmed Tuesday.MONTGOMERY, Ala. - Social media rumors that indicated large amounts of funding would be diverted away from south Alabama ’s Fort Novosel , are not true, U.S. Rep. Barry Moore , R-District 2, confirmed Tuesday.
Moore’s office pointed at a social media post with more than 400,000 views that stated the Department of Defense was pulling $130 million from Fort Novosel’s training budget and redirecting it to Ukraine and other “foreign obligations.
“Fort Novosel is vital to our national security and provides thousands of jobs to my constituents,” Moore said. “I will continue to fight for accountability and transparency in how taxpayer dollars are used by the Army and other government agencies, while also ensuring that our military is ready to meet the demands of an increasingly hostile world.”
Fort Novosel sits in Moore’s congressional district. However, due to redistricting, that soon will no longer be the case. Moore is now running as the Republican candidate in the upcoming District 1 Congressional race.
