Michelle Mann It’s been almost a month since U.S. Rep. Barry Moore questioned Army leadership about a rumored shut down of training at the Home of Army Aviation and he still has not received answers.
The shutdown rumors began with a social media thread by Patrick Webb that included a screenshot of the purported Fort Novosel official’s email reporting that millions had been pulled from the flight training program and reallocated towards foreign assistance. The official’s name was redacted as well as the email’s recipients.
Moore said Friday that while flight training has not been disrupted, he continues to have unanswered questions about the funding issue. His staff has been working with House Armed Services Chairman Mike Rogers and the rest of the Alabama delegation to get answers on this issue. “Hundreds of constituents have reached out in concern, and it is unacceptable that they have waited weeks to get answers from the Army about Fort Novosel’s funding,” said Moore. “I expect an explanation for the cancellation of previous briefings and ask for a formal briefing immediately regarding these rumors. My constituents, the people who work at and help fund the training at Fort Novosel, deserve answers.
