During a third try in the SoCal boys volleyball playoffs, Poway High made sure everyone will always remember the Titans.
The second attempt in 2021 ended much the same way, the Titans lost its opening game to Corona del Mar.From now on, 2023 will always be different. Top-seeded Poway outlasted No. 2 Eastlake 25-23, 25-17, 22-25, 25-14 to capture the Division III Southern California championship Saturday at home.
“I thought we were lucky a few times to get points to keep us going,’’ Charlie Jackson said. “It is very rare to end the season with a win like this.’’ While Eastlake got nine kills and four blocks from Dallin Samson and seven kills apiece from Troy Fleming and Nicholas Jimenez, but Poway got points from multiple sources.“Somewhere along the line, the rest of the tam developed a connection with Preston like I had,’’ Sawyer said. “We all just figured it out.“We were able to bring points from everywhere on the court instead of the normal two or three guys.
