Sabah has finally received its first public AC charging station, courtesy of Regas Premium. The company is now looking to deploy chargers in more areas within the state including Tawau.

. This particular charger is part of the ChargEV network and costs RM1.00/min to use.

Based on the current data from PlugShare, these are the only public EV chargers in Sabah. That being said, Regas Premium is already planning to deploy more chargers in other parts of Sabah and the company said that among the next key areas that are already in their consideration is Tawau. Nevertheless, it is yet another reminder that the EV charging infrastructure in Malaysia is still far behind despite the government’s ambition to have 10,000 public chargers by 2025. So, we do hope that other parties will also join the effort to grow the EV infrastructure in Sabah very soon.
