KOTA KINABALU: The Sabah government might take action against Assaffal Alian over his statement in the state assembly that the Federal Government had allegedly surrendered the Ambalat Block in the Sulawesi Sea to Indonesia.

Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor said the government was considering this move against the Tungku assemblyman but did not specify if the action would be taken by the Sabah Legislative Assembly’s privileges and rights committee.

Mohamad said the statement by Assafal during the Sabah state assembly sitting last week was irresponsible and was a threat to the nation's sovereignty. On Wednesday , non-governmental organisation Gerakan Kuasa Rakyat Malaysia lodged a police report here against Assaffal for allegedly spreading the false statement.
