CINCINNATI - Cincinnati Reds shortstop Elly De La Cruz hit a two-run homer and stole another base in Tuesday's 8-1 victory over the Philadelphia Phillies. It's the cherry on top of an impressive first month of the season, during which he tied a major league record set over 100 years ago. Per MLB.com's Sarah Langs, he became only the second player since 1900 with at least five home runs and 10 steals in the first 20 games of the season. The other player to achieve the feat was Ken Williams in 1922 for the St. Louis Browns.and six steals in his last seven games. The 22-year-old shortstop has a slash line of .295/.402/.641 with seven homers , 22 runs scored , 17 RBI with a league-leading 12 stolen bases through 23 games. His 1.043 OPS is also tied for 4th in MLB.
