The National Weather Service issued red flag warnings until Thursday at 8 p.m. for inland valleys and mountain regions. Winds are predicted to reach 25 to 35 mph with isolated gusts soaring up to 75 mph on the favored coastal slopes of the San Diego County Mountains.
As a precautionary measure, public safety power shutoffs commenced on Monday, with SDG&E interrupting power supply to 932 customers in Boulevard, Descanso, Warner Springs, and the Campo Reservation. An additional 82,000 customers have been alerted to the possibility of power outages through Wednesday. The NWS anticipates winds to intensify starting Monday afternoon, reaching their peak overnight into Tuesday morning. There is a 65-80% likelihood of winds exceeding 40 mph across the mountains and a 35-50% chance in inland valleys and foothills. Widespread wind gusts over 30 mph are expected across inland valleys west of the mountains, with localized gusts exceeding 60 mph in passes and canyons. Coastal San Diego will experience a blend of partly cloudy and clear conditions throughout the week, with temperatures ranging from the mid-60s to low 70s. Inland valleys can anticipate partly cloudy mornings and light winds this week, accompanied by some sunshine and highs reaching the low 70s. Mountain regions are forecast to see mostly sunny conditions with average highs in the 50s. A slight chance of showers and snow is predicted at 5,000 feet elevation by the weekend
